A few advices for nannies
How do we deal with conflicts ?
Tricks for a long lasting relationship between the employee-employer
A few advices for choosing the right person for your family
1. AGE :
The degree of responsability of a person is not age related, but it's closly related to the character of that person; this means that when you choose
the person who'll take care of your baby, age should not be a central point; what matters is your choice at that certain moment;
2. THE TEMPERATURE OF THE EMOTIONAL STATE :
In order to reduce the emotional distance between you and the chosen person, a certain availability and curiosity are needed to get to know each other;
of course, we can work long schedule, but that doesn't stop us to see the emotional transformations of the people around us - a key question asked at
the right time can save a relationship, so don't heasitate to talk to your employees!
3. EXPERIENCE :
Of course experience can be a strenght for a future nanny, but it can also be a negative thing, if that person thinks she "knows better",
overulling the parents' demands for the sake of their own standards; a lot more apreciated is a person with a minimum experience but who is ready
to learn, to "know her way around the house". The psychological profile of this kind of person would include : malleability, a slight conformism,
open mind, flexibility;
4. OTHER CHARACTERISTICS :
From our experience, we can say that the most common aspects brought up in the discutions with our clients, when they choose a person for
baby-sitting or old-sitting are: personal hygiene, clean appearance, open mindness, first contact with the family / baby etc.
OBSERVATION : Each person has resources that can be valued! Don't mistake the person for it's behaviour!
A more silent person, introverted, can proove to be a very good employee, a loyal person and very attached to your baby,
without really expressing those things! The fact that she doesn't communicate her feelings, doesn't mean she doesn't have them!
